PCC Must Engage With Police
Speaking ahead of the Police and Crime Commissioner election, Hampshire Police Federation said prospective candidates needed to engage more with the police.
In the election on 2 May, the incumbent PCC, Donna Jones, is standing alongside three other candidates.
Zoë Wakefield, Chair of Hampshire Police Federation, said: “If we get a new PCC, they need to spend some time going round and listening to officers on the frontline about the reality of policing. Not what they think the reality is from whatever political party they’ve come from, but what it’s actually like now.”
She added: “None of the prospective candidates contacted me or contacted the Federation, which is disappointing. The last time, they all contacted me and I met them for a coffee and had an in-depth conversation with all of them. But this time, nothing.”
