Independent Review Of PFEW

Hampshire Police Federation has said it looks forward to engaging with the independent review of the PFEW, with the hope that it will bring positive change for members.

An independent panel is investigating the past failings at the Police Federation of England and Wales and assessing how the Federation should work in the future to ensure that it better and more effectively represents the issues and concerns of its members.

Hampshire Police Federation Chair Zoë Wakefield said: “I think it’s a really positive thing that they’ve got this independent panel together and that they are engaging with members and planning on visiting all the forces.

“I know that they were hoping to have done quite a few by now, but they’ve put it on hold while the disorder was going on, which was the right decision.

“We’re looking forward to them coming to Hampshire so that we can have a chat with them and engage with them, and hopefully it will bring about some real positive change for members.

“Everybody wants the national Federation to be more relevant and more linked in with local Federations. I think generally people around the country are happy with their local Federation and feel that they’re supported, but they don’t really see where the PFEW fits into that. Hopefully it’ll improve things for the future.”
