Federation Secretary Garry Smith thanks officers for taking part in the Serve and Protect Credit Union financial survey
Federation Secretary Garry Smith has thanked officers for taking part in the Serve and Protect Credit Union financial survey.
He said: I’m really grateful that over 650 members completed the recent Financial Resilience Survey that was produced by Serve and Protect CU (Police Credit Union) on our behalf .
The survey aims to identify the financial challenges faced by our Officers and helps support our argument in relation to your overall financial resilience – with the South East allowance increase being prevalent in a number of survey responses and a matter that we have constantly been at the chief constable’s door with.
Worryingly almost 90% of those who completed the survey said could not cope financially should there be a change to their income as a result of job loss, health issues, divorce or similar. They have no financial resilience should the unforeseen happen.
As we move out of lockdown with the pandemic hopefully behind us, we face an unknown reality in which changes may happen.
What if there is a second wave?
What if your partner loses their job?
What if there is a recession and there are job cuts?
What’s your plan?
What financial resilience do you have?
