Clarity Needed From The IOPC
The outgoing Chair of Hampshire Police Federation says she wants clarity from the IOPC over its claim that 83% of investigations were completed within a year.
Zoe Wakefield said her experienced showed “very few” police investigations reached their conclusion within that time period, let alone probes into officers.
She claimed some IOPC investigations that she was aware of were getting close to being three years long.
Zoe said: “I presume the IOPC are counting every single complaint that comes into them – some they don’t even properly investigate and some they just write off straight away.
“There are a ridiculous number of officers that are under investigation for too long and the impact that has on them and their mental health is really significant.”
Zoe added she wanted to know how many investigations were ongoing that had been running more more than 12 months.
