Hampshire Officers Win South East Region Bravery Award

A group of courageous Hampshire police officers have won the South East Region award at The Police Bravery Awards 2024.
Back in August 2023, PC Emma Davies, PC Tim Clarkson, Sgt David Gibbs, PC Nathan Fulton and PC Scott Thomson risked their lives to detain a man carrying an explosive device.
On 11 July 2024, the team attended a reception at Downing Street followed by a glittering awards ceremony, where they were named the award winners for the South East Region.
Hampshire Police Federation Chair Zoë Wakefield said: “I was super proud of our nominees. Like everyone else there, they said: ‘We were just doing our job and other people would have done the same’. Which might be the case, but they potentially saved a lot of lives that day as well as the offender’s life and their own.
“It was an amazing event, and I was so proud of them to have won the regional awards. They were gobsmacked at winning – that was really special.
“That led to a few media interviews – they were on our local ITV Meridian at the Six O’Clock News that evening, and the following day they were on the front page of the Portsmouth News.
“Their children saw the newspapers in the shops and were stopping everybody in the shop going: ‘That’s my daddy, that’s my daddy!’ That doesn’t happen very often, so it’s amazing.”
