National Police Memorial Day coming up at end of September
Hampshire Police Federation will be travelling to Wales on Sunday 24 September to pay respect to fallen officers.
This year’s National Police Memorial Day will be held at St David’s Hall in Cardiff and Hampshire Police Federation and colleagues will be travelling alongside a number of family members of fallen officers.
Zoë said: “This is such an important occasion in the policing calendar. It is vital that the families know that their loved one isn’t forgotten and that we remember all fallen officers. They are still and will always remain part of the police family.”
She said the event can be hugely beneficial for the family members, and that this year four or five families from Hampshire will be attending. The family of PC Daniel Golding, who lost his life on duty in August last year following an on-duty collision in Hertfordshire will be in attendance.
Zoë added: “It is especially sad, when you have a family joining for the first time. But it’s such a poignant event and a really lovely service so I’m pleased for the families that do come, as I hope that they will get something from it and see the high-regard in which their loved one is held.”
